Events of extraordinary violence upset the world starting from 2001.
The fall of the Twin Towers, the invasion of Iraq, the tide of terrorism at global level, the horror amplified by images of beheadings broadcasted on TV, the wake of blood of the terrorist attacks completely shocked western public opinion.
I could not turn my head away. I decided to put aside my artistic path for a while and express my state of mind and my sense of shock towards what was occurring.
I realised a small cycle of works culminated in my solo exhibition at BLUorG gallery in 2007. The title “Landscapes and Still Life paintings” is provoking. It alludes to a pictorial genre used to highlight the beauty of nature Unfortunately, in this case the landscapes are fires, explosions, still life paintings depict smoking twisted metals. Nature is now wounded and marred.
